Sensors have to be installed in the provided brackets. The wires have to be protected against chafing and secured against unintentional removal. Please pay attention to the correct switching distance and the right sensor size.
 
The controls of the sensors and the used logic can influence the function of the Lift & Rotate Unit tremendously. This is the responsibility of the operating company.
 
The automatic Lift & Rotate Unit is rotated by a three-phase voltage, geared motor, which has to be controlled by a frequency converter. All sensors for the installed stop unit on the respective configuration must be electrically connected according to the related documentation.
 
In projects or situations where LOGO!MAT ITB Controls haven’t been ordered it must be noted that they are not part of the scope of  delivery, which leaves the controls and related functions and safety control installations of the Lift & Rotate Unit to be completed by the operating company. Since these controls have to meet the needs of our customers, LOGOMAT can not give any detailed information or specifications to the controls concept.

To tension the chain, please proceed as follows:
  1. Disconnect the electrical and pneumatic supply of the entire conveyor system and secure against reconnection.
  2. Loosen the four mounting clamps of the motor base plate.
  3. Move the entire unit against the running direction until the required chain tension is reached.
  4. Tighten the four mounting clamps.
  5. Connect the electrical supply.
  6. Check the function of the entire Lift & Rotate Unit.
  7. Please follow the steps in reverse order to re-install the indexing plate.

The Lift & Rotate Unit is pre-adjusted before delivery. Precise adjustments have to be done with the pallet and its work piece together, and by adjusting the flat index pin to get the pallet properly supported.

To adjust the flat index pin, please proceed as follows:
  1. Disconnect the electrical and pneumatic supply of the entire conveyor system and secure against reconnection.
  2. Loosen the set screw at the adjustable flat rest.

  3. Turn the flat index pin in or out according to the needed adjustments (with suitable tools). The index pin is pre-tensioned by spring washers to avoid self-turning.

  4. Push the pallet including the work piece manually above the Lift & Rotate Unit, lift the pallet with the unit and check if the pallet has a solid support from the indexing plate.
  5. If the position is well defined, remove the pallet of the Lift & Rotate Unit and tighten the set screw to secure the rest position.
    If not, please adjust the heights again and follow steps 4 and 5 until the pallet sits properly on the index pins.

To install the Lift & Rotate Unit into the LOGO!MAT Roller Conveyor, please proceed as follows:
  1. Define the area where the Lift & Rotate Unit should be installed. Replace all full rollers with stub rollers in this area. (See the documentation of the roller conveyor for detailed installation operation steps.) The stub rollers on the driven side have to be installed with a 57 mm spacing; on the non-driven side a spacing of 114 mm is sufficient.
    The required stub rollers are not part of the scope of delivery. They have to be ordered separately in case of a component order.
    Oily conditions require a cross drive unit to drive both sides of the stub rollers.
  2. Remove the mounting clamps on one side of the base plate and loosen the remaining clamps.
  3. Slide the entire Lift & Rotate Unit [from below] with the remaining mounting clamps into the inner, lower slot of the conveyor bottom rail extrusion and reattach the removed mounting clamps enough so that movement of the entire unit is still possible.
    Pay attention that the direction of the conveyor flow (information on the drive station) and the arrow of the stop unit match.
  4. Push an empty pallet into the cushioned stop unit until the end position is reached and the return stop is locked.
  5. Check the position of the pallet and adjust the unit location if necessary.
  6. Tighten the mounting clamps of the Lift & Rotate Unit to the conveyor.
    The mounting clamps have to be locked into the extrusion correctly, to avoid movement of the unit.
  7. Install the drive unit of the Lift & Rotate Unit with electrical drive. Insert the drive unit into the conveyor extrusion, identical to step #2, and tension the drive chain (see chapter of "Tension the Drive Chain").
  8. Check for sufficient clearance of the horizontal stop movement manually and adjust the roller configuration if needed to avoid any pinch points or collisions with the rollers.
  9. Supply the pneumatic and electrical connections according to the wiring diagrams.
  10. Check and test the function of the entire Lift & Rotate Unit.

LOGO!MAT XL Twin Strand - Series: Lift & Rotate Unit

In addition to precise pallet positioning within +/- 0.2 mm, the LOGO!MAT XL Lift & Rotate Unit, which is also for used in the XL Twin Strand System, offers the ability to turn and position the pallet in 90 degree increments so that the work piece can be accessed at every side. The indexing plate lifts the pallet pneumatically up to a defined height. Afterwards the pallet can be turned manually or automatically by an electric motor and locks in position.

The LOGO!MAT XL Lift & Rotate Unit includes a standardized pneumatic cushioned LOGO!MAT XL Stop Unit mounted on the same base plate as the entire Lift & Rotate Unit to archieve a defined distance between the stop unit and the indexing pins. This allows moving and installing the XL Lift & Rotate Unit in almost every position in the entire conveyor system – even afterwards with no adjustment work involved.

For the precision positioning of the pallet, the pallet is stopped above the indexing plate and lifted pneumatically via indexing pins in the same way the LOGO!MAT XL Lift & Locate Unit engages into the pallet index bushings. After the pallet is lifted on the indexing plate it can be rotated manually or automatically in both directions without rotation limitations. The rotation gets locked every 90 degrees via a pneumatic shot pin. Adjustments are available on request.

The manual rotation of the LOGO!MAT Lift & Rotate Unit slows down by using a spring loaded, adjustable wheel before the unit locks. With the automatic LOGO!MAT XL Lift & Rotate Unit the rotation is done via a friction clutch that limits the rotating force for a high level of safety, even with high pallet weights.

The LOGO!MAT XL Lift & Rotate Unit is always designed for the maximum pallet weight stated for the XL Roller Conveyor; however, operations with a high torque or high forces have to be avoided. Those areas have to be supported differently. Please ask for options we can offer.

The operational safety of the LOGO!MAT XL Lift & Rotate Unit can be improved by using an optional rod lock unit. Safety covers are standardizedfor the mechanic to protect it against dirt or outside influences, or secure it against reaching into. The Lift & Rotate Unit is also optionally available with RFID Reader provisions that are designed for read / write operations in all possible station conditions.

The LOGO!MAT XL Lift & Rotate Unit is an affordable component to allow heavy pallets to be rotated for access. Complex operations or additional workstations can be replaced by one of these units.
