The LOGO!MAT Swing Gate and LOGO!MAT Lift Gate are our standard components used to provide access to the inside of a conveyor loop for maintenance personnel or operators. The Swing Gate is a pneumatically released, manually operated component with safe, ergonomic handling provisions that can be customized in length to fit your needs.

The Swing Gate can be opened almost 180 degrees to maximize the opening. It locks itself once the gate closes and is released pneumatically. The status of the gate (opened or closed) can be monitored by a 12 mm inductive sensor. The sensor provisions are included, but the sensor itself is not part of the standard scope of supply.

Other benefits of the Swing Gate include a conveyor drive motor located underneath the track and adjustable support wheels. Pallet return locks are not part of the standard scope of supply, but are available upon request.

The Swing Gate has the following advantages (compared to the XL Lift Gate):

    The LOGO!MAT Walk-On Manual Docking Cart is our design for manual pull off and re-entries of pallets within a conveyor system. Especially in large and complex layouts and processes there are needs to take parts to different areas for repair after a failed testing. Those parts have to be re-introduced into the line to be tested again.

    The Walk-On Manual Cart is based on a piece of low profile gravity conveyor track that can be moved around on lockable caster wheels. The height of the Manual Cart is set to the conveyor height where the Cart will dock to and the handle has adjustable grips for the operator. 

    An integrated docking mechanism interfaces with a counterpart on the conveyor line and locks the Cart in position. It also automatically releases mechanical stops on the Cart to allow the pallet flow. By releasing a mechanical indexing plunger the Cart can be taken off the track and the mechanical locks directly block the lines. The presence of a Manual Docking Cart can be sensed by an inductive sensor mounted to the stationary conveyor track.

    A bi-directional Docking Cart with two docking devices is also available to allow the reintroduction of a pallet in the same orientation as it was removed wiithout rotating it.

    The LOGO!MAT Pallet Locate Unit provides a five times greater positioning accuracy than the LOGO!MAT Stop Unit alone.

    The LOGO!MAT Pallet Locate Unit was specifically developed for semi-automatic or automatic workstations where robots perform tasks on the work piece and the pallet has to be positioned exactly.
    This cost effective component consists of a pneumatic cushioned stop unit and a pneumatically driven index pin that engages into one of the rear index bushing son the bottom side of the pallet. Using this setup, the pallet is positioned accurately in x- and y-direction within ± 0.1 mm.

    Since the index bushings are directly mounted to the tooling plate, the plate gets positioned without any additional play. The locate pin is spring loaded in the up position. It can be lowered pneumatically and raised by spring pressure. Or it can be double acting as well to get more indexing pressure for heavier pallets. Two inductive sensors (M8) can be used to detect the position of the index pin. Those sensors are not included in the standard package, but are available upon request; the sensor brackets are included in any case.

    The stop unit and the index pin are installed on a separate mounting plate therefore the distance between the stop unit and the index pin can be adjusted for every individual configuration and operation.

    The entire unit can be moved to another position even after the commissioning of the transfer system. Every LOGO!MAT Stop Unit can be adapted with a LOGO!MAT Locate, if the repeat accuracy of the pallet is required in the future.

    The LOGO!MAT Pallet Locate Unit is a very reasonable component to ensure proper pallet positioning.

    LOGO!MAT Walk-On - Series: Diverter and Junction Unit


    diverter-junctionThe LOGO!MAT Diverters and LOGO!MAT Junctions are used in the LOGO!MAT Walk-On Roller Conveyor to divide or merge conveyor segments. Including fully walkable covers, made from wood or steel are the only difference between the L - Series and the Walk-On Component.

     
     
     

     

     

    LOGO!MAT Walk-On Diverter Unit


    Our innovative Diverter technique enables you to connect different conveyor zones effectively and allows pallets to turn off and on to another perpendicular conveyor track. The pneumatically driven pivoting arm swings into the conveyor track and directs the pallet on to an adjoining track. In the case that the pallet should not turn, the diverter arm stays in the closed position or moves out of the conveyor track so that the pallet is able to continue straight. The pneumatic actuation is no issue in regards to pinch points since the Walk-On Conveyor Track is completely covered.

    In the area of the Diverter, fixed driven rollers are used to make sure that the pallet passes the Diverter. The spaces between these driven rollers are filled in with protective covers for safety reasons. The speed of the Diverter arm is adjustable with air flow or a frequency converter.

    The LOGO!MAT Walk-On Diverter can also be fairly easily installed in the future if there is a need to expand the conveyor line.

    LOGO!MAT Walk-On Junction Unit


    Our innovative Junction enables you to connect different conveyor zones effectively and allows merging two perpendicular conveyor tracks. A LOGO!MAT Junction consists of a free pivoting arm which swings into the conveyor track and directs the pallet on to an adjoining track. It also allows a pallet to continue straight in the closed position. It gets operated by the pallet itself and doesn’t need to be powered or controlled.

    To ensure that the pallet safely passes the Junction the rollers in the Junction areas are fixed driven rollers. The area doesn't build up any pitch points because the swing is covered by the walkable covers.

    The Junction can also be fairly easily installed in the future if there is a need to expand a conveyor line.

    The patented LOGO!MAT Corner combines two straight conveyor sections with a few extra parts to guide the pallets steadily around the turn without using any additional transfer or pusher unit. One key is a proper, level and squared installation of the adjoining sections, but corner bar supports and other design features help to ease the installation process. This corner style eliminates all additional costs of mechanical, pneumatic and special control equipment and reduces the cycle time. The space requirements are small and the added safety features make additional guarding unnecessary.

    Fixed driven rollers need to be used in the corner area to allow the pallet going around the curve to flow smoothly, but roller covers and finger guards help to make that area safer. The orientation of the pallets stays the same all over the line which simplifies the conveyor planning significantly. Subsequent expansions or changes in the system layout can be made quickly and inexpensively. In planning the modular LOGO!MAT L Conveyor System, only straight segments need to be combined to form the overall layout. A turn consists of two straight roller conveyor system tracks positioned at an angle of 90 degrees.

    The drive of the line (which includes the outer corner guide) needs to be on the outside, but the adjoining track can have the drive motor on either side. If necessary, the corner can be planned the opposite way which gives a lot of flexibility in defining the drive motor location of the adjoining conveyor tracks.

    The LOGO!MAT Walk-On Corner includes a full walkable cover kit which is the only difference to the regular LOGO!MAT L - Series Corner. These covers are available in steel or as a wooden walk platform.

    palletOur driver pallet for the LOGO!MAT Walk-On Conveyor System does have the same outer shape as the regular plastic pallet for the L - Series. The patented shape allows the pallet to move around corners, diverters and junctions and they build the interface for the stop unit insert and the sensor strip. RFID tags can be added upon customer request.

    The pallets are 704 mm long, are machined from aluminum and they have replaceable wear pads on the bottom to get the right material in contact with the rollers. Side guide rollers help to keep the pallet straight in the top rail extrusion.

    Two steel pylons are mounted on top of the driver pallet to build the interface to the top / tooling plate. Those pylons stick through the center slot of the walkable covers and they are positioned so that they follow the same radius in the corner and diverter areas to keep the slot as small as possible.

    The pallet is not available with a center cut-out because the application and the configuration don't allow reaching through the pallets.

    The LOGO!MAT Walk-On Conveyor Track is a standard LOGO!MAT NW400 (L - Series) Conveyor Track with a 114 mm roller spacing and 50 mm diameter, heavy friction rollers installed. The drive station is a low profile design with an integrated, automatic horizontal chain tensioner. The maximum capacity per pallet is 550 lbs. (250 kg) and the offered driving speed is limited to 18 m/min because of OSHA regulations.

    The low profile, steel leg supports with integrated leveling feet get mounted on the bottom of the conveyor extrusion. The legs stick out further to the outside of the conveyor and end with a conveyor mounting on both sides. Leveling feet below the track allow a height adjustment in  a certain range and the track can be anchored to the floor through those feet.

    The top covers are mounted to the top rail of the conveyor and the aluminum support outside. This creates a stiff setup with a width of 817 mm in total. There is enough room to utilize that additional width for a cable tray to have all wires directly covered as well. All covers can be easily taken off for maintenance or accessibility.

    XL Lift  RotateIn addition to precise pallet positioning within ± 0.2 mm, the LOGO!MAT XL Lift & Rotate Unit offers the ability to turn and position the pallet in 90 degree increments so the work piece can be accessed at every side. The indexing plate lifts the pallet pneumatically up to a defined height. Afterwards the pallet can be turned manually or automatically by an electric motor and locks in position.

    The LOGO!MAT XL Lift & Rotate Unit includes a standardized pneumatic cushioned LOGO!MAT XL Stop Unit mounted on the same base plate as the entire Lift & Rotate Unit to archieve a defined distance between the stop unit and the indexing pins. This allows moving and installing the XL Lift & Rotate Unit in almost every position in the entire conveyor system – even afterwards with no adjustment work involved.

    For the precision positioning of the pallet, the pallet is stopped above the indexing plate and lifted pneumatically via indexing pins in the same way the LOGO!MAT XL Lift & Locate Unit engages into the pallet index bushings. After the pallet is lifted on the indexing plate it can be rotated manually or automatically in both directions without rotation limitations. The rotation gets locked every 90 degrees via a pneumatic shot pin. Adjustments are available on request.

    The manual rotation of the LOGO!MAT Lift & Rotate Unit slows down by using a spring loaded, adjustable wheel before the unit locks. With the automatic LOGO!MAT XL Lift & Rotate Unit the rotation is done via a friction clutch that limits the rotating force for a high level of safety, even with high pallet weights.

    The LOGO!MAT XL Lift & Rotate Unit is always designed for the maximum pallet weight stated for the XL Roller Conveyor; however, operations with a high torque or high forces have to be avoided. Those areas have to be supported differently. Please ask for options we can offer.

    The operational safety of the LOGO!MAT XL Lift & Rotate Unit can be improved by using an optional rod lock unit. Safety covers are standardized for the mechanic to protect it against dirt or outside influences, or secure it against reaching into. The Lift & Rotate Unit is also optional available with RFID Reader provisions that are designed for read / write operations in all possible station conditions.

    The LOGO!MAT XL Lift & Rotate Unit is an affordable component to allow heavy pallets to be rotated for access. Complex operations or additional workstations can be replaced by one of these units.

    XL Lift Gate

    The LOGO!MAT XL Lift Gate is used to get access to the inside of a conveyor loop for maintenance personnel or operators. The Lift Gate is a mechanical component that supports the opening and closing force with a spring package. Operating forces are in a range of 17 - 44 lbs. (8 - 20 kg) depending on the configuration of the system. The operating behavior of the gate can be adjusted in a certain range.

    The gate opens more than 90 degrees and the spring package keeps it open. Nevertheless, it should be secured in the upright position with the included safety cables to avoid injuries due to a dropping gate. For safety reasons the opening and closing motion must be controlled manually as the heavy duty gate develops a lot of energy if it closes uncontrolled.

    Mechanical return locks for the adjoining conveyor tracks are not part of the standard scope of supply, but are available as an option.

    The conveyor drive motor is located underneath the conveyor track, and the drive station is positioned as closes to the pivot point as possible.

    All in all, the LOGO!MAT XL Lift Gate is a cost effective solution for maintenance access to the inside of a conveyor loop with tight space constraints.

    To allow precise locating possibilities for the parts and to be independent of the plastic material behavior based on environmental conditions, we developed a special interface between the index bushings, the customer tooling plates and our driver pallet. The hardened steel, closed tolerance index bushings get directly and just mounted to the customer top plate. The plastic driver pallet gets clamped with the index bushings against the straight solid top plate. That setup has the following advantages:

    • Direct indexing possibility through the index bushings directly to the tooling plate
    • No tension in the plastic material because of some freedom to move
    • Easy mounting of the customer top plate to our plastic driver pallet
    • No wear at the indexing locations even after many years in production

    The integrated steel stop unit insert with included return stop is another feature that is part of the base pallet assembly. The gravity flapper is a simplr device used to hold the pallet at a stop. Pushing a pallet backwards out of the stop location is not possible. A recessed steel strip on the bottom of the plastic pallet builds the target for the pallet present sensors and for high level switches. The length, combined with the center slot in the pallet allows for very easy and fail safe control on the pallet behavior in a stop or locating position. That combination eliminates the need for additional high-level pallet stop switches.

    Customized cutouts are available on request. The special design of the base pallet enables it to travel easily around corners and diverters.
