The Track Shuttle positioning is accomplished through the encoder of the transfer motor and is repeatable, adjustable and flexible for deceleration, acceleration and stop behavior. The drive controller is part of the Smart Controller and does NOT need to be programmed by the operating company.
All required stop positions are programmed at the LOGOMAT facility prior to delivery, but the mechanical installation at the operating company may require slight adjustments once the conveyor is set in its final location.

Symptom:

The Track Rotate stalles under full load

Root Cause:
The Shuttle is not aligned correctly and it binds
Remedial Action:
Align the Shuttle, so that the carriage moves freely by hand if the motor is disengaged

Something blocks the movement

Check the cable track to work properly and make sure that the Shuttle runs freely without high friction

Torque setting too low

Call LOGOMAT to adjust the torque setting of the motor

Symptom:

The Track Shuttle misses...


The switch bracket consists of two switches; one reference travel roller lever switch and one M18 inductive switch for position feasibility. The roller lever switch gets used to reset the motor encoder and the position feasibility gets used to make sure that the shuttle is roughly in the correct area. That double checks the encoder signal before an E-CART gets released.

The shown sensor setup is located on either side of the travel. Intermediate stop locations would have the inductive sensor only.

Make sure that the roller lever switch is not activated when the shuttle is in position. It needs to sense a position behind the actual travel. DO NOT MOVE THAT SWITCH BECAUSE THAT WILL MESS UP THE...



Please contact LOGOMAT Customer Service if the guide rails need to be replaced. The procedure is unlikely but could be required if anything damaged the rail.

The main weight gets distributed by the 2 guide rails and the 4 runner blocks. Those runner blocks have to be greased every six (6) months according to the maintenance schedule. If for any reason a runner block runs hard, lost some balls or got damaged, it should get replaced. There are two fixed and two sliding blocks so that the shuttle doesn’t get stuck if the two rails are not running completely parallel. Both blocks get replaced with the same process and procedure.
  1. Disconnect the power supply and the air supply and prevent it from being switched on by any other person. Make sure that the Shuttle Track is empty and no E-CART is sitting on top of it.

All connections should be unplugged for safety reasons.

The drive motor of the Track Shuttle can be replaced by the operating company. Please follow the instructions below:
  1. Disconnect the power supply and prevent it from being switched on by any other person.

  2. Remove the center cover above the shuttle drive motor.

  3. Disconnect the 3 Pole power connector as well as the 5 and 8 Pole cable at the dedicated disconnects.
  4. Loosen the bolts of the motor mounting plate and support the motor to not fall down.

The installation and setup of the Track Shuttle is very important for a smooth operation with a low transfer force and a good transition to and from the Shuttle. The leveling and aligning process takes some time but the conveyor shouldn’t be put in production unless it is setup properly.

To install the Track Rotate, please proceed as follows:
  1. Disconnect the power supply and prevent it from being switched on by any other person.
  2. Set up the Shuttle according to the project layout in the plant. If you have adjoining spurs on both ends, please have one side already set up.

The Track Shuttle Smart Component has its own sequencer to control the motions and the drive as well as the positioning system. The interface to the main PLC is normally done via floating I/Os, but it can also be done via bus or Ethernet IP as an option.

Once the Shuttle gets switched on, the automatic on signal at the terminal supply and the clearance signal from the main PLC will be present; the Shuttle will perform a reference travel. That sets the motor encoder to get ready. The Shuttle will go to Pos. 1 and will deliver the signal that it is ready and the Pos. 1 signal. It is ready to receive an input to travel.

In general all required sensors are installed for the complete function of the E-CART Track Shuttle if the component is purchased as a Smart Component. The controls of the sensors and the used logic can influence the function of the Track Shuttle in a negative way. This is the responsibility of the operating company if the Smart option wasn’t purchased.
